CoronaVirus Disease, COVID-19 has caused the worldwide pandemic and indirectly put the nations on a compulsory holiday. Here are Coronavirus disease COVID-19 causes, symptoms, prevention, treatments and vaccines for coronavirus disease.

I have decided to write this piece of a long article to make known to the general public on everything we’ve got from medical practitioners and the World Health Organization (WHO) about the causes of this deadly virus.

The spread of this virus is alarming and rapid even when it started in China as recorded and almost gotten to every part of the world.

In light of this, in this article I will elucidate the information released by health Organizations on the causes, effect, cure and vaccines of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19). So if you are anxious to know more about this virus, I enjoin you to read this article assiduously as I take the lead.

What Is CoronaVirus?

Here’s the sweet part, I first came across the word CoronaVirus while in college in a subject Biology.

CoronaVirus can be found as a sub-category under molecular biology where they are described as large, enveloped RNA viruses of both medical and veterinary responsible for the causative agent of a severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).

I was thought that this family of the virus is distributed widely among mammals and birds, causing principally respiratory or enteric diseases but in some cases neurologic illness or hepatitis whose infections are acute or persistent and are transmitted mainly via respiratory and fecal‐oral routes.

So basically, world health Organizations (WHO) have been monitoring this disease for some time and here’s what they define the virus as; Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that may cause illness in animals or humans. In humans, several coronaviruses are known to cause respiratory infections ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The most recently discovered coronavirus causes coronavirus disease COVID-19.

What Is COVID-19?

Yes, I am a science person and I am telling you they are differences between CoronaVirus and COVID-19.

However, COVID-19 according to WHO is the infectious disease caused by the most recently discovered coronavirus. This new virus and disease were unknown before the outbreak began in Wuhan, China, in December 2020.

Symptoms Of COVID-19

The disease has symptoms almost like every normal disease out there which may cause the delay of discovering whether a person has it or not.

The common & most identified symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough. Other patients may have pains and aches, severe nasal congestion, runny nose or diarrhea.

These symptoms are usually little and begin slowly even at that, other people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don’t feel unwell. Also, most people (about 80%) according to WHO recover from the disease without needing any special treatment. Only little of the people who get COVID-19 becomes seriously ill and develop difficulty in breathing. Anyone with fever, cough and difficulty breathing should seek medical attention.

How Can I Avoid The Risk Of Infection?

The COVID-19 virus is a new virus linked to the same family of viruses as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and some types of the common cold.

Here’s what I found by UNICEF on avoiding the rust of COVID-19 infection.

  • Wash your hands frequently using soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub

Hand-washing

  • Cover mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue when coughing or sneezing. Dispose of used tissue immediately

Should I Wear A Mask To Protect Myself From COVID-19?

No!, You do not have to put on a mask to be safe from CoronaVirus. You should only wear a mask if you are ill with COVID-19 symptoms (especially coughing) or looking after someone who may have COVID-19.

A disposable face mask can only be used once. If you are not ill or looking after someone who is ill then you are wasting a mask. There is a world-wide shortage of masks, so WHO urges people to use masks wisely.

CoronaVirus COVID-19 Vaccines, Drugs & Treatments

Not yet. To date, there is no vaccine and no specific antiviral medicine to prevent or treat COVID-2020. However, those affected should receive care to relieve symptoms. People with serious illnesses should be hospitalized. Most patients recover thanks to supportive care.

Possible vaccines and some specific drug treatments are under investigation. They are being tested through clinical trials. WHO is coordinating efforts to develop vaccines and medicines to prevent and treat COVID-19.

The most effective ways to protect yourself and others against COVID-19 are to frequently clean your hands, cover your cough with the bend of elbow or tissue, and maintain a distance of at least 1 meter (3 feet) from people who are coughing or sneezing.

How COVID-19 Is Being Transmitted

The virus that causes COVID-19 is mainly transmitted through droplets generated when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or speaks. These droplets are too heavy to hang in the air. They quickly fall on floors or surfaces.

You can be infected by breathing in the virus if you are within 1 meter of a person who has COVID-19, or by touching an already contaminated surface and then touching your eyes, nose or mouth before washing your hands.

What can I do to prevent the spread of infection?

The WHO and CDC recommend that you take the usual precautions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with your elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth if your hands aren’t clean.
  • Avoid close contact with anyone who is sick.
  • Clean surfaces that you touch often.
  • Stay home from work, school and public areas if you’re sick.

The WHO further recommends these steps:

  • Check with your health care provider if you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, and tell him or her about any recent travel.
  • Avoid eating raw meat or animal organs.
  • If you’re visiting live markets in areas that have recently had cases of the new coronavirus, avoid contact with live animals and surfaces they may have touched.

While there is currently no recommended treatment, vaccine, or antiviral medication for COVID-19, pharmaceutical companies are racing for solutions. However, there is something you can also do to help in stopping the spread, ” Stay at Home and avoid Public/ Crowded arear”, “Self-isolation”.

You can help stop CoronaVirus, COVID-19 spread by doing this. Why not share this article as it will also help lots of ignorant people out there also. Thank you
