Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman professionally known as Oxlade is a popular Nigerian singer born on the 22nd of April, 1997 in Mushin, Lagos State, Nigeria.
Oxlade is very talented and has sighted in the limelight as one of the fast-rising musical artists in Nigeria.
Career
He had a natural talent for music as a child and began singing in church at the age of ten. His father didn’t approve of his professional choice, but he persisted. Later, he was accepted to Lagos State University to study history and international relations (LASU).
He dropped out halfway through his degree to pursue a career in music, which angered his father, who stopped feeding him when he left school to pursue music.
He began singing professionally in 2017 and released his first record on Soundcloud the same year.
His grandfather gave him the stage name “Oxlade” since he lost his best friend (a British man) the day he was born and wanted to honor him with the moniker. He chose ‘Oxlade’ as his official stage name in his JSS 3.
After the release of his collaboration with Blaqbonez, ‘Mamiwota,’ he earned his first break. He was already exhausted and on the verge of giving up. Blaqbonez advised him to register a Twitter account after the song was released, which he did, and was amazed by the amount of support and endorsement he received as a result of the Mamiwota record.
