From 1984 to 1992, he attended Lillian’s Day Nursery School and Robinson Street Primary School. Between 1992 and 1998, he attended four secondary schools in Enugu: Marist Brothers’ Juniorate, Uturu, University Secondary School, Enugu, Ecumenical Community Secondary School, and New Haven Boys Secondary School before graduating in 1998.

After finishing secondary school, he went on to the University of Port Hacourt to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Dramatic Arts. He met his wife, May Aligwe, at the University of Port Hacourt, and the two married six years later.

Career
He debuted in the Nollywood industry at the age of 23, starring in ‘The Exquires’ alongside Jutus Esiri and Chidi Mokeme. He continued to act as a feature character in many films until his big break came in 2007 when he co-starred with Genevieve Nnaji and Desmond Elliot in the film ‘Wind of Glory.’ Since his big break, he’s continued to act in a variety of roles in the industry, particularly in home videos.
As someone who witnessed his father actively acting in films, he has a thorough understanding of the industry and the types of talents Nigeria has to offer the world.
He felt that Nigeria was not doing enough for the film industry, so he founded his film academy in 2015 to train the next generation of Nollywood actors and actresses.
Yul Edochie announced to the public in July 2017 that he intended to run for office in the Anambra State Governorship election. He was the Democratic People’s Congress Party’s Governorship candidate, and in the November 2017 election, he finished 19th out of 37 candidates running for the same office. Dr. Willie Obiano, the current governor of Anambra State, appointed Yul Edochie as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Creative and Entertainment Media in 2018.
