Joseph Akinfenwa, AKA Joeboy, is a well Known Nigerian artiste, singer, songwriter, and stage performer.
He sings mainly R&B and Afro-Pop and started singing at the age of 16, releasing his first son at 17-year-old. He is one of the fastest-growing artistes in Nigeria.
Joeboy’s Background
Joeboy was born on May 21, 1997, in Lagos State, Nigeria. he spent most of his life in Lagos where he discovered a love for music at the age of 16, having grown up in a musical house, his elder sister was a chorister while his father is a pianist at the church they worship.
His greatest musical inspiration was 9ice and ID Cabasa, two great music artists in Nigeria with who he spent much of his time within the studio to learn music.
Joeboy’s Education
Joeboy finished his primary and secondary education in Lagos and gained admission into the University of Lagos, Akoka, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources.

Joeboy’s song “Baby” was one of the top 10 on Apple’s Music charts in Nigeria, Uganda, and Kenya and he is expected to keep growing.
At 17-year-old, Joeboy recorded his first single titled ” Gbeseyin”, an afrobeat song.
He released a cover of Ed Sheeran’s version of “Shape of You” which received good reviews within Nigeria and in Diaspora.
It was this cover that made people made notice of him and caught Mr. Eazi’s attention a long time ago.
Mr. Eazi created a talent incubator for future African music artistes known as emPawa Africa, a full-service company offering marketing, distribution, publishing label, and management service, which provides African artistes with the tools, knowledge, networks, and investment to grow and expand his song from Africa to the World.
Also launching #emPawa100, a funding and mentorship programme, and encouraged Joeboy to signup.

Joeboy signed up and became one of the 10,000 applicants from 14 countries, and it was only by signing up for the programme that the first of 100 recipients to win a share of $3,000 to help a new generation of African artists find major success.
He used his $3,000 for the visual of his song titled “Faaji” and within a month, he became one of the 10 ranks selected for a mentor training camp in South Africa, one of two artists receiving additional funding from $50,000.
In March 2020, Joeboy released the song “Baby”, a love song that reached the top 10 of Apple music’s charts in Nigeria, Kenya, and Uganda.
Another hit single, “Beginning” was released as a sequel to “Baby” and it was featured by Beat 1 host Ebro on his discovered segment. The song hit number one in Nigeria and also Uganda.
On November 8, 2020, Joeboy released the album Love & Light, which included five (5) songs, the song was produced under the Label of emPawa Africa Limited.
