His Early Life
He was born in Delta State Nigeria, Ned complete his basic education in Nigeria before moving to the United kingdom for his university education, He had his law degree in the United kingdom University of Keele, Staffordshire, UK. After obtaining his first degree, he moved on to King’s College, London, where he obtained an LLM in Maritime and Commercial Law and got called to the English bar at Lincoln’s Inn.
After he finished his studies he set up an organization of his own in London. He became a solicitor and the age of 24. The organization he opened was a law firm, it is said to be the biggest law firm owned by an African person, a Nigerian at that.
Career
Nwoko began his legal career as a prosecutor for the crown and qualified as a solicitor of the supreme court of England and Wales. He worked at Kumars Solicitors and Pascaldiers & Co Solicitors before establishing Ned Nwoko & Co Solicitors in London.
Nwoko was secretary-general, Nigerian legal practitioners the UK and was visiting adviser, citizens’ advice bureau, based in London. He received an Honorary Doctorate in Letters (D.Litt.) from Commonwealth University College, Belize, and an honorary doctorate in science from the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun FUPRE, Delta state.
Nwoko returned to Nigeria in December 1998 to contribute to the enthronement of a viable democratic institution in the country following the military disengagement from power, after long years of military dictatorship.
