Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan claims the Democratic committee investigating the Jan. 6 event in the US Capitol is a “total assault on the liberties of the American people.”
Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s role in that day’s events erupted during a discussion of the committee approving a criminal contempt report to convict Steve Bannon of contempt of Congress. Jordan previously called for an investigation into Pelosi. Jim Jordan said that “11 people, 11 US citizens, received subpoenas after seeking government approval to hold the Trump event.”
According to him, “the government has agreed to this, and now the January 6 committee has asked the government to ask them questions about the use of their First Amendment to the Assembly.”
And why would they even quote me? As Mr. Jim Jordan explained to the Washington Post, “I haven’t done anything illegal, I just had a conversation with the President.” “I communicate with the President regularly.
This is about chasing after President Trump and you know where I stand on this committee. I just think it’s good. That seems natural. As a result, they have “directed these companies not to notify the person for whom you are being asked to withhold information, to inform them as required by law, or to tell them that we have asked you to do so”, he added. It’s appalling in terms of where they want to go and what they’re doing with
freedoms in the United States.
“In conclusion, I would like to ask the fundamental question: how can you expect witnesses to attend if you do not allow Republicans to sit on the committee in the first place? What method will you use for this? What is that? all, plain and simple, is that they have nothing more to say”. “We know what it’s about, it’s clear and simple, it’s about them having nothing more to say.
